The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian program designed to provide support for individuals with disabilities. It’s a national insurance system aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and enabling better integration and participation in society. NDIS focuses on providing financial support and services tailored to the needs of each individual.
Established in 2013, it represents a significant step towards enhancing support for people with disabilities in Australia. The NDIS program replaces the older system of funding and assistance, offering greater flexibility and control to users so they can choose the services that are most important and beneficial to them.
NDIS offers a wide range of services that encompass health, education, social, and vocational support, as well as therapy, assistance with daily activities, customized devices and aids, and many other aspects necessary for improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
The NDIS system aims to empower individuals with disabilities to make decisions about their own needs and the services they will use, thereby contributing to their increased independence and active participation in society.”
